JAZZY 88 WFSK is an educational community-based radio station owned and operated by Fisk University. Serving the public since 1973, JAZZY 88 is home to 24-different specialty programs with nearly 30-volunteers. Our volunteers serve in numerous capacities, in both on-air and behind the scenes, are both Fisk students and from the community at-large.
WFSK is the first African American FM radio station on the dial in Nashville, and the first African American owned & operated radio station in Nashville, Tennessee.
JAZZY 88 has a Smooth & Contemporary Jazz music format, talk programs and cross-cultural programming.
Receiving numerous awards over the years, WFSK remains a favorite among jazz and contemporary music connoisseurs. We’re an Associated Press AP radio station and broadcast affiliate of Public Radio International (PRI). PRI broadcasts the nationally syndicated Tavis Smiley Show and the Smiley & West Show. Additionally, WFSK proudly carries The Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Countdown from the American Urban Radio Network, the award-winning Jazz from Lincoln Center with Wendell Pierce, and the syndicated talk program What’s the 411? with Sharon Kay which broadcasts live from the studios of WFSK, twice weekly.
WFSK is also a member of the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS), Tennessee Association of Broadcasters (TAB) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) .
