Drummer Chester Thompson has world-class chops and credentials, including stints with Weather Report, Frank Zappa, Genesis, and Phil Collins and a period as an in-demand Los Angeles studio musician. Chester has made Nashville his home for the past 15 years, teaching at Belmont University and the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Local audiences have only occasionally been treated to his live performances, but now have the chance to hear him in an intimate setting on a regular basis.
The Chester Thompson Trio, consisting of Chester, pianist Joe Davidian, and bassist Michael Rinne, are now appearing weekly at the Commodore Grille in the Holiday Inn West End. With fresh arrangements of jazz and contemporary standards, this trio. To date this weekly gig has been somewhat "under the radar," but with three such top-level musicians it may not stay that way for long!
