News flash: Rahsaan Barber's new CD has just received an Editor's Pick from DownBeat magazine! Rahsaan Barber wrote, arranged, and produced Everyday Magic, his second album as a leader, with the support of his exceptional band, also called Everyday Magic. It features guitarist Adam Agati, pianist Jody Nardone, bassist Jerry Navarro, and drummer Nioshi Jackson. Rahsaan's twin brother, trombonist Roland Barber makes an appearance on two tracks, as does percussionist and Rahsaan's co-leader of Latin Jazz/World Music septet El Movimiento, Giovanni Rodriguez.
Along with The Movement, the radio-friendly 2010 debut by El Movimiento, Everyday Magic is proof positive that you can live in the nation’s country music capital, work with country and soul and blues artists, and still produce uncompromising, original jazz.
CD Release party: Sunday, September 11, 5-7 pm at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Joining Rahsaan will be Jody Nardone, Jerry Navarro, James DaSilva, and Nioshi Jackson. Admission is free. The CD will be on sale at the event.
