Funk in the TrunkNashville based Smooth Jazz musician, Flugelhorn and Trumpet Player Michael Fair has released a new 13 track CD on his Michael Fair Music label, entitled "Funk in the Trunk,"featuring the ultra warm sound of his Flugelhorn."

The CD features superbly produced Smooth Jazz tracks with everything from up tempo funk to buttery smooth ballads," including the Jimmy Webb classic "Wichita Lineman," and mid-tempo Neo Soul artist Kem's "Find Your Way Back."  Produced by GRAMMY nominated writer/producer Brandon Barnes this is a CD with something for everyone.

Over the past 20 years Fair has carved a unique niche for himself performing and recording smooth jazz in a city primarily known for country and contemporary Christian music.  Beginning with his first trumpet at the age of 12, he was soon playing the songs that he heard his parents listening to by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.  His earliest performances included solo features in school bands, and he studied trumpet performance at Middle Tennessee State University and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelors of Music.

In 1985 he moved to Southern California to pursue interests outside of music, but in 1987 after a he moved back to Nashville he picked the horn back up and joined a new band, "The Cliff Notes."  Working with this group gave Fair exposure to the Nashville music community, opening up opportunities for both live and session work.

Fair has shared the stage on shows with such legends as Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, Larry Carlton, Olivia Newton-John, Leon Russell, Gary Puckett, Gregg Allman, John Hiatt, Sam Moore, Carman, Claude McKnight, Victor Wooten, Kirk Whalum, and Jim Horn to name a few.
