Jazzanooga, “one of the Southern region’s most celebrated annual arts events,” is here! This month-long event features concerts, education events, and even a walking tour. This year’s music festival reflects the diversity of jazz music – from the hot rhythms of Arturo O’Ferrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Octet to the improvisational stylings of Julian Lage, audiences throughout the Scenic City will not be disappointed. Rounding out the list of the 2016 headliners is the Christian McBride Trio.
Festivities began Sunday, April 3 with the sounds of Chattanooga’s own big band, Sweet Georgia Sound. Other free, family- friendly events throughout the month include the Juke Joint Session at Memo’s, the Historic MLK Blvd Walking Tour, and the Keys of Life Piano Jam.
The highlight of the festival is the weekend of April 22-24:
Friday, April 22, 7:30pm – Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Octet at the Camp House
Saturday, April 23, 7:00pm – The Christian McBride Trio at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Convention Center
Sunday, April 24, 5pm – Julian Lage at the Revelry Room
